The Caves St Martin, one century of passion around the golden nectar.
Just as the diamond merchant who knows the value of uncut diamonds, the 7 pioneers of the St Martin history recognized the magic of the huge calcareous rock downstream from the city of Remich. Eugène Koch, Jean Faber, Eugène Knepper, J.P. Hartmann, Pierre Wurth, Jean Beissel and Mathias Ley left the first marks of Luxembourg’s sparkling wines in this place of wild beauty. In 1919, in the aftermath of World War I, they set up the Caves St Martin.

Their personal view of things was behind the digging of the underground galleries hewed in this huge calcareous rock between 1919 and 1921, and till this day the wizards of the juice of the vine have been dealing with the ancestral ritual of the wine-making and the champagnization of wine. Bacchus himself wouldn’t have resisted to the magical call of these galleries dedicated to the delight of the palate, where thousands of bottles of this delicious nectar are resting, elaborated according to the traditional method due to the Benedictine monk Dom Pérignon.
